Luxury Vinyl Flooring Installation

Luxury vinyl installation planned around waterproofing, subfloor prep, and how the finished floor connects to the rest of your home.

Amazonia Floors provides professional luxury vinyl flooring installation throughout Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Harford County, and surrounding Maryland communities.

Luxury vinyl gives homeowners the look of wood or stone without requiring the same maintenance as the natural material. That can make it a practical choice for busy households, high-traffic rooms, and spaces where homeowners want durability and easier everyday upkeep.

Since 2007, Amazonia Floors has helped homeowners compare flooring options based on more than appearance. We look at where the flooring is going, what’s already in the space, how the room is used, and how the new floor will connect with the rest of the home.

What “Luxury Vinyl” Actually Means

Not all luxury vinyl is the same product with a different pattern printed on it. A few terms are worth knowing before you shop:

Waterproof vs. water-resistant. Not every luxury vinyl product is fully waterproof, some are only water-resistant, which matters a lot in bathrooms, kitchens, and basements. We’ll confirm which type you’re getting before it’s installed.

Wear layer. This is the protective top layer that resists scratches and everyday wear. A thicker wear layer generally holds up better in high-traffic rooms and with pets.

Core type. Rigid-core products (often called SPC or WPC) tend to feel more solid underfoot and can handle minor subfloor imperfections better than thinner, flexible vinyl.

Installation method. Some luxury vinyl clicks together as a floating floor; other products are glued directly to the subfloor. The right method depends on the room and the subfloor underneath it.

We’ll walk through these differences against your specific room, not just the sample in your hand.

When Does Luxury Vinyl Make Sense?

Hardwood may be an important part of what we do, but we don’t recommend hardwood simply because it’s hardwood. Different rooms have different flooring needs.

Luxury vinyl can be a good option when you want the appearance of wood or stone but have different priorities for maintenance, moisture resistance, everyday traffic, or budget.

It can also work well when one part of the home already has hardwood and you want a complementary wood-look floor in another space without trying to make two different materials look like an exact match.

Our team can help you compare luxury vinyl with hardwood, laminate, tile, and other flooring options based on the room you’re actually updating.

Choosing Luxury Vinyl Flooring

There are a lot of luxury vinyl products that look similar when you’re holding a single plank. The differences become more important when you’re choosing flooring for an entire room or several connected spaces.

Beyond color, we consider the plank size and pattern, the amount of traffic the room receives, maintenance expectations, and how the flooring will look next to existing cabinets, trim, stairs, and other floors.

If you’re choosing a wood-look luxury vinyl, we can also help you think about how the tone and grain pattern will work with real wood elsewhere in the home. A close-but-not-quite match isn’t always the best approach. Sometimes choosing a complementary finish creates a more intentional transition.

Before Luxury Vinyl Goes Down

New flooring can only look as good as the surface it’s installed over.

Before installation, we look at the existing floor and the condition of the surface underneath it. Uneven areas and other surface concerns can affect how the new flooring sits and how the finished installation looks.

We also plan for doorways, walls, cabinetry, stairs, and places where luxury vinyl will meet hardwood, carpet, or tile.

These aren’t the parts of the floor most homeowners think about when choosing a plank, but they’re often the details that determine whether the new flooring looks properly finished once the room is put back together.
